I don't normally write reviews, but these shoes deserve a shout-out for their performance. I purchased these shoes for a family vacation this summer to Glacier National Park and Crater Lake. My family and I hiked about 25 miles in 4 days, 95+ degree temps and these shoes were amazing. Specifics below.Water resistant/proof - look elsewhere if this is important to you. These shoes are not either.Fit/comfort - I am a size 12D Men's; this is what I ordered and the fit was excellent. Plenty of room in the toe box, good support in the arch, and my feet never got tired on the trail. I did experience soreness in my big toes, but this is more a factor of me not being used to hiking this amount of miles in such a short time vs the shoe.Function - great traction on the gravel, rocky, dusty trails of GNP and Crater Lake. These are not mid-ankle hiking boots, they are more like a tennis shoe, but I felt very stable in them while walking on uneven terrain. The shoes are very light weight and helped bring out the "mountain goat" in me while hiking several of the more strenuous trails of the national parks. The shoe laces are different than I have ever used - they worked well, generally stayed snug, but I am not sure what you do if/when one breaks/needs replaced.Durability - unable to comment objectively as I only have the limited experience for reference. However, these shoes are very well built, and with proper care, I fully expect them to hold up for many more hiking adventures in the years to come.Price - Not cheap, but not crazy expensive either. Quality costs $ = you generally get what you pay for and I believe these shoes are worth every penny if used for the intended application.
